The Westside Economic Strategy
In 2003, Phase II of The Westside Story economic study focused on developing an economic strategy adaptable to the new demands and conditions of the region. While The Westside Story provided business and public sector leaders with a clear understanding of the region's history and the factors involved in its previous success, the Westside Economic Strategy built upon the study's findings and outlined specific strategies in which businesses, non-profit organizations and government leaders can work together to build a strong and healthy economy and vibrant, livable communities.

Hundreds of Westside citizens from the public, private and non-profit sectors met in dozens of public forums and meetings to develop the vision and strategy for the Westside economy. The approach calls for a "smart" Westside: A place of talented people, innovative economies, and vibrant communities. The strategy focus on four main themes:
    1. People,
    2. Places,
    3. Clusters, and
    4. Leadership.
The Westside Economic Alliance Economic Strategy Committee has met to map out action plans for each of the above four areas, and has identified local partners, critical first steps, and specific objectives for the next two years.
